Asked by TMZ if anyone has “pressured” him to stop performing the song, presumably in the wake of the recent attacks, Ice Cube said, “Nobody’s said nothin’ to me.”
“I ain’t gonna change nothin’ I do, know what I mean? Cuz I ain’t doin’ nothin’ wrong,” the rapper said.
In response, the TMZ reporter said, “I hear that.”
The song, which was released in 1988, includes lyrics like, “I’m a sniper with a hell of a scope. Taking out a cop or two, they can’t cope with me.”
The question posed to Ice Cube comes the day after a gunman in Baton Rouge opened fire on police, killing three officers. Local law enforcement said the sniper “intentionally targeted and assassinated” police and “was going to take more lives” if he wasn’t stopped.
